We'll Make Your Pages Perfect...Period!FAQs | Here's
Wilbur Buyer, who has just perused your book (or ad copy, pamphlet, newsletter,
etc.), and he's outraged at the errors he found! | | | | "Where's the respect
for syntax and spelling?!" he laments. | “So,
just what is it that you do for me?” I proofread your website, manuscript,
newsletter, etc., to make sure the text is perfect—no misspellings, no grammatical
errors, no punctuation mistakes, no wrong words, etc. Perfect…period!
“And why is that so important?” Your website is your potential
customer’s first impression of your business, and you only get one chance to make
a first impression. The customer should be awed by your site's gorgeous graphics,
its detailed descriptions of your products/services, its ease of navigation—if
all of it isn’t perfect, that potential customer could get a negative impression
of your site and take his/her business elsewhere. And the more pages you have
on your site, the more probability you have mistakes on some of those pages. For
manuscripts, brochures and other text materials, your words alone interest someone
in your product or service. If your text contains errors, your audience may question
what you're saying; if you're not that concerned with errors, they may wonder
about your integrity, honesty or trustworthiness. "And what will I get
from you--pages of text corrected with weird squiggly lines and style changes
that make my site read like a textbook?" Nope. I'll send you corrections
in plain English via e-mail, fax or regular mail, whichever you choose.
After proofreading your website, manuscript, etc., I'll simply point out any errors,
supply you with the corrections, and you or your webmaster can then make the changes.
It's as simple as that. And I won't change the writing style or personality
of your text (unless you ask me to also copyedit your text). Getting your
message across effectively is what's important, and real-world communication
is a good way to do that. "What if I only have a personal website
with just a few pages? Do I still need it proofed?" I say yes, but it's
up to you. After all, it's your name and reputation out there for the whole wide
world to see. Don't you want to make a favorable impression? I can proof your
site to make sure it's error-free. “Okay…so how much is this gonna cost
me?” The rates are: $30 per hour, with a one-hour minimum; after that,
I charge in one-minute increments. Your final cost all depends on the number of
pages and the amount of text there is. A site with three or four pages may take
only an hour. A site with lots of pages, loads of product descriptions and such
will take a lot longer, and so cost more. Ditto for manuscripts, newsletters,
brochures, and other text materials; a thousand-page manuscript will take a lot
longer to go over than a three-page pamphlet. I do offer free estimates, which
will at least give you a ballpark figure of costs. "How can I pay for
this?" I accept credit cards, debit cards, checks (personal, business,
cashier's), and money orders, in U. S. funds. "What about
a guarantee?" Your pages will be perfect...period! The reality
is, everyone makes mistakes--if I miss something (horror of horrors!),
I'll make it right at no additional cost to you! “And why should
I hire you to go over my website/manuscript/newsletter or other stuff?” Hmmm...not
yet convinced of my probity, eh? Here's a short resume: I majored in Creative
Writing and English Literature in college, but that didn't prevent me from becoming
a down-to-earth writer, having worked in the television news business for over
thirty years as a newswriter, film critic, documentary writer/producer, and special
projects writer/producer (in the Los Angeles, California and Tucson, Arizona markets).
I also authored a non-fiction book on movies and history that's just itching to
become a best seller. And since starting my business in November 2005, here are
just a few of the proofing/copyediting jobs I've done: www.tucbg.com www.robertmannoriginals.com www.storyworksgroup.com Copyeditor for Tucson
Sport Magazine (2006) Copyeditor for the book How to Slay
the Worry Monster, by Dr. Martin Sodomsky Bottom line:
I have the knack for spotting errors and the skills to correct them!
